I used to find myself puzzled and confused when it came to pairing the right necklace with the right shirt or sweater. Often, I would wear a V-neck (always for the slendering attribute, of course) and pair it with a long necklace (again, another trick of the trade to look oh so skinny!). Um, that pairing was a no no.
